PFW Opening Night w/ DONCASTER

PITTSBURGH FASHION WEEK 2011 OPENING NIGHT was a HUGE success with the "From BRYANT PARK To MARKET SQUARE" Under the Tent In Market Square Event!

Fashion and Excitement was in the air as the night started out with a VIP reception of Sushi & Martinis at McCormick & Schmidts and Wine & Hors d'Oeuvres at The Capital Grille. There was barely walking room only!

The Opening Night Event was to benefit the Ladies Hospital Aid Society and did they show out in numbers!!! LHAS helps "To provide support to the sick and the poor living in our diverse neighborhoods." Tiffany & Co. took donations of $200 each for LHAS as they presented donors with a "Mystery Blue Box" of which they could keep. Jackie Dixon is the Vice President of Community Relations for LHAS.

The Show Under The Tent At Market Square was hosted by KDKA-TV's Kristine Sorenson who graciously introduced the Founder of PITTSBURGH FASHION WEEK Miyoshi Anderson. Miyoshi is an Actress and Model and she always reminds me of a Barbie Doll I swear she must have been the model for the original Black Barbie!!!

The evenings Fashions were provided by DONCASTER On Fifth"Extraordinary Apparel for Extraordinary Women" in the PIATT Building at 301 Fifth Avenue. Miyoshi started the Fall Fashion Show off modeling a Cashmere with Printed Skirt and Ruffled Blouse.

My Favorites of the Evening! I love the Fall for wraps and coats that give you a more stylish and sophisticated look! The fringed plaid Scarf Wrap with a leather belt around it is a new trend that I love! And Leather is BACK! (Thank God #tiredofthepleatherandpplcallingitleather) but in a different way...leather trim and accenting is the new trend!

More Capes, Wraps and Coats!

Suited up for Fall and some Seperates.

Animal Print Jackets and Printed Coat Dress.

The Career Woman will look stunning this Fall.

Now for play and fun Night's Out on the Town and these models LOOK like they're having fun!!!

Give it up for the Golden Girls!!!

DONCASTER Designer Patricia Clyne was ever so modest when asked to the runway. She's seen here with the Chairwoman of the event Teresa Cavoti and Miyoshi Anderson. Miyoshi with her loving mother and sister!

Also in attendance was Miyoshi's mother & sister, Nicole Berry and Liza Simmons and one of my Favorite Fashion Designers Malcolm Williams with one of his Plus Size models Danielle Jackson wearing one of his peices. Danielle will also be modeling in the PFW Back to Back Runway Shows on Friday and Saturday.

The lovely and stylishly creative Denise Edwards was also in attendance while fellow Fashion Consultant & Stylist Lakisha Pattin volunteered for the event looking lovely in her staple Blazer that "goes with everything" and sharp bright blue strappy sandals! I've learned my lesson...volunteer and heels don't go together! But if you can do it...work it out!!!

Denise and Lakisha will are the featured make-up artists for the PFW Back to Back Runway Shows for Friday and Saturday!

Did I ever tell you I love Fashion?

After the show there was a VIP Champagne & Desert Reception at Izzazu Salon and Doncaster at Piatt Place. Guests were greeted by Piatt Place volunteers donning gift bags and wearing blinged out PFW Tee's designed by LHAS and the sounds of No Bad JuJu Unplugged band.

The Doncaster boutique pre PFW was "Pittsburgh's Best Kept Secret" but not anymore!!!

I caught up with some of the models at the reception and they were still all a glow about PFW!

The atmosphere was filled with sweet puffs of smiles and beauty hence the hanging edible creme puffs created just for this event!

The "Designer Deserts" were created by Executive Pastry Chef Naomi Gallego and champagne compliments of The Fairmont Pittsburgh. Aren't they so pretty??? I could hardly eat mine for staring at them!!! Leopard Print Pastries...WHAT?

Stay tuned for more sweet treats during Pittsburgh Fashion Week 2011. Next Up for PFW...TONIGHT "THE MEN'S SHOW" with JOS. A. BANKS. Get your tickets for this and other events during the week at www.pittsburghfashionweek.com

FASHION FEVER Review

The Pittsburgh Fashion Scene is heatin' up as we get closer to Pittsburgh Fashion Week 2011 with FASHION FEVER

The Style Studded event was created by Style & STEEL's Wadria Taylor & Lakisha Patton and held at THE Premier Restaurant and Lounge in the City for "The Good Life" SAVOY

The "who's who" of Fashion in the Steel City were in attendance like one of my favorite designers Malcolm Willams of Willie Gee's Designs seen here with two of his models (and my favorite plus models) Danielle Jackson & LaTonia Michelle (who also modeled in the show for Armani Nejor Designs).

Designers featured for the evening were (from left to right) Jazmeen, Lana Neumeyer, Armani Nejor Designs (mom Tisha Dolby as stand in) and Paula Minydzak.

Speaking of Armani Nejor Designs...the now 11 year old is growing up! Designing more sophisticated and sheek designs adding Black satin to her Fall Collection. Armani Nejor Dolby debuted her bright eye popping colors and color blocking at Pittsburgh Fashion Week 2010. Her new peices for this year are showing her maturity as a young designer!

Premiering a Black Satin Sheek and Short Cocktail Dress with Long Black & Red Reversible and Detachable Train is Red Carpet worthy! You can contact Armani Nejor at http://www.armaninejordesigns.com/

Other Fashionistas were Red Carpet worthy for this Night of Fashion and Fever!

I brought the Jungle Fever to the Night with this one peice Zebra print romper, Aldo perforated leather booties and matching bag and the oh so trendy Fedora and Feather drop Earrings!

Designer Jazmin Jackson of Jazmeen designs is seen here modeling one of her "from Desk to Date" color blocked EASY BOLD LUXE collection peices. Her models struted thier high wasted long bell bottomed boldly colorful pants and simple blouses down the runway in true High Fashion Runway Form!

And in a more dressier fashion Jazmin models her black one peice halter jumper which is always a classic look!

This Classic look of comfort & style is Timeless and Sexy and there's sure to be some heat rising on that date!

I LOVE the creatively inventive High Wasted Halter Pant seen here in plaid and basic black over a plain or printed Tee. Also the Canary Yellow Lace Top with see through sleeves and the 80's style Hot Pink top with leggings! Jazmeen's Design Office is at 100 5th Avenue Suite 509 Pittsburgh, PA. Schedule your personal consultation at jazmeen.style@gmail.com

Designer Paula Minydzak's designs are inspired by her "Friends and Family's" need for anything from jeans to Semi-Formal wear. Love the black sheer w/ tank layered top.

Paula's Semi-Formal dresses and gowns.

Paula can be reached at madalen@comcast.net

This next designer is no stranger to the Pittsburgh Runway either! Featured in Pittsburgh Fashion Week 2010's Eco-Chic Show Lana Neumeyer literally ROCKS the runway with her Brazilian designs and her models samba and marraco all the way down the catwalk in these flowery flowing dresses and ensembles!

Lana's eye for High Fashion is noticed in these long flowing burlap eco-friendly long coat suits!

Lana can be reached at http://www.lananeumeyer.com/

The fellas stepped out in true swagger for the event. You gotta love a man that steps out in style. Can't wait to see the Men's Show at PFW 2011 on Tuesday, Sept. 27th.

The lovely Event Planner herself Wadria styling in her natural true Caribbean style while her partner and Stylist Lakisha Tweets during a LIVE interview with PFW Founder Miyoshi Anderson who was in NY for Fashion Week on Twitter for PFW as the featured stylist and make-up artist! And I thought I was the master multi-tasker!?!

Fellow Activist Brandi Fisher looks lovely after working hard coordinating the models for the show like the lovely model on the left.

Other Fashionable attendees pose for a group photo. Don't you just love the diverse looks of Fashion?

Each of the Designers featured for the evening will be a part of the back-to-back Runway Shows for Pittsburgh Fashion Week 2011 which begins next Monday, September 26th through October 2nd! Log on to http://www.pittsburghfashionweek.com/ for details and tickets! Hope you're feelin' the Fashion Fever too, I want to see you all there in the name of Fashion!
